Wednesday Sushi Nights with Neil

it's the little moments

Wednesday Sushi Nights with Neil in Sarasota. A heartfelt story about friendship, connection, and our weekly sushi tradition in downtown Sarasota.

There are some moments in life that quietly become the moments you treasure most.

Not because they’re extravagant.
Not because they’re planned perfectly.
But because they become part of the rhythm of connection, friendship, laughter, and simply being present.

For me, Wednesday nights with Neil have become exactly that.

Almost every Wednesday, we make our way downtown to one of our favorite spots in Sarasota — Spice Station.

From the moment you walk in, there’s just something about it.
The atmosphere is welcoming.
The service is always kind and attentive.
The sushi is consistently fresh.
And somehow, every visit feels familiar in the best possible way.

What started as “let’s grab dinner” slowly turned into a weekly tradition we both genuinely look forward to.

And honestly…
in a world where everyone seems rushed, distracted, and constantly moving, these simple evenings have become a reminder of what matters most.

Sitting downtown.
Sharing stories.
Talking about life.
Laughing about random things.
Watching the energy of Sarasota move around us while we slow down long enough to enjoy the moment.

Those are the things that stay with you.

One of the things I’ve learned over the years is that relationships are built in the ordinary moments.
Not the grand gestures.
Not the perfect timing.
Just showing up consistently for people you care about.

Life moves quickly.
Business moves quickly.
The world moves quickly.

But these Wednesday dinners remind me that connection still matters.
Friendship still matters.
Community still matters.

And Sarasota has a beautiful way of creating those moments.

Downtown Sarasota in the evening has such a unique energy — especially around the bayfront and Arts District. There’s music nearby, people walking, conversations happening outside restaurants, warm Florida air, and this feeling that life should be enjoyed a little more slowly.

That’s one reason we love going to Spice Station.
It feels relaxed.
Comfortable.
Easy.

The kind of place where memories naturally happen.

And truthfully, I think more people need that these days.

More dinners with friends.
More conversations without rushing.
More checking in on people.
More making time for those we care about.

Because someday, those simple traditions become the stories we cherish most.

So I wanted to share this little part of life with all of you.

And for friends of Neil, people who know him, or anyone who simply wants to join us sometime on a Wednesday evening downtown…
