You Don’t Need to Be Chosen. You Decide.

chaos to success

Stop chasing validation. Choose yourself. A powerful story on resilience, boundaries, discipline, and rebuilding with quiet strength.

There was a season in my life when I thought I had to be chosen.

Chosen by the right brokerage.
Chosen by the right clients.
Chosen by the right people in the room.
Chosen by the market.
Chosen by the relationship.
Chosen by opportunity.

I didn’t say it out loud. I would have never admitted it.

But somewhere deep inside, I was waiting.

Waiting for validation.
Waiting for recognition.
Waiting for someone to say, “You’re enough. You’re the one. You belong here.”

And here’s what I’ve learned after 32+ years in real estate, building businesses, navigating markets that crashed and soared, rebuilding after personal transitions, caring for people who needed me, and still showing up every single day – even when it was hard:

You don’t need to be chosen.

You decide. Who you want to be, who you choose to be

I remember sitting at my desk one early morning in Sarasota. It was still dark. Bella and Shadow had just gone back to sleep. Coffee in hand. Silence all around me. I took a hard look at my life, who I was surrounding myself with, who I was serving, when a shift happened:

I realized something that changed everything.

I had been waiting for circumstances to align before I allowed myself to fully step into my power. For circumstances to change, you must change. You are the only one who can make a decision and change all other options.

Waiting for:
• The perfect timing – Will never change anything.. The time is now.
• The perfect partnership – There are no perfect partnerships.. decide if those in your life also deserve your time, effort, and energy.
• The perfect team – Comes from communication.
• The perfect market – Homes always Sell. The level of your skills determine the outcome of your bank account.. We rise to the level of our skills. Level up.
• The perfect level of confidence – Sometimes we need to put that confidence on everyday like we put on our outfits everyday. Eventually we will build and grow our confidence.

But life doesn’t reward waiting.

It rewards decision.

Resilience without victimhood means this:
You acknowledge what hurt.
You acknowledge what didn’t go as planned.
You acknowledge the disappointment.
And then you stand up anyway.

Not angry.
Not bitter.
Not blaming.

Just clear.

Clear that your future is not dependent on someone else’s approval.

Discipline with heart looks different than hustle culture.
It’s waking up at 5:00 AM not to prove anything — but to prepare.
It’s studying your market while others scroll.
It’s planning intentionally.
It’s protecting your time.
It’s serving deeply.

Not because you’re chasing validation.
But because you decided who you are becoming.

Empathy with boundaries might be the hardest lesson of all.

I am an empath. I feel everything.
I can see where people are going before they see it themselves.
I want to help.
I want to guide.
I want to fix.

But growth taught me something powerful:

You can care deeply without carrying everything.

You can love people without losing yourself.
You can serve others without sacrificing your peace.
You can mentor without rescuing.
You can support without shrinking.

Quiet strength doesn’t announce itself.

It doesn’t compete.
It doesn’t argue.
It doesn’t beg to be seen.

It simply builds.

While others are loud, it studies.
While others are reactive, it prepares.
While others are chasing, it creates.

I’ve rebuilt in seasons when no one was clapping.
I’ve repositioned when it would have been easier to stay comfortable.
I’ve continued serving clients at the highest level while privately restructuring my own life.

That’s the part people don’t see.

Rebuilding while still serving others.

Showing up polished and professional while doing deep personal work behind the scenes.
Guiding families through million-dollar decisions while quietly redefining your own.
Leading with confidence while healing.
Teaching discipline while practicing grace on yourself.

That is strength.

And here’s what I know about you — the one reading this:

You’ve probably been waiting too.

Waiting for someone to recognize your worth.
Waiting for the promotion.
Waiting for the apology.
Waiting for the invitation.
Waiting for the relationship to choose you.
Waiting for the market to shift.
Waiting for someone to see what you see in yourself.

What if you stopped?

What if you stopped chasing being chosen?

What if instead you decided:

I choose myself.
I choose discipline.
I choose boundaries.
I choose growth.
I choose peace.
I choose to build — even if no one is watching.

Because when you decide, something shifts.

You stop negotiating your standards.
You stop explaining your ambition.
You stop shrinking your light to make others comfortable.
You stop performing for approval.

And you start leading.

Not loudly.
Not arrogantly.

But powerfully.

You don’t need the room to clap.
You don’t need the crowd to validate.
You don’t need permission.

You need a decision.

The strongest seasons of my life didn’t begin when someone picked me.

They began when I chose myself.

And if this resonates — if you feel it in your chest — then maybe this is your moment too.

Maybe this is the season you stop chasing and start building.
Maybe this is the season you draw the boundary.
Maybe this is the season you step fully into who you already are.

So I’ll ask you the same question I asked myself in that quiet Sarasota morning:

What would change in your life if you stopped waiting to be chosen?

Comment below with one thing you are choosing for yourself this season.

Let this be the moment you decide.

The image above tells a story.

One version of me was buried in paper, overwhelmed by noise, reacting to everything and everyone.

The other version decided to build systems, protect her time, lead with clarity, and breathe again.

If you see yourself in the left side…
You don’t have to stay there.

If you’re ready for the right side…
It starts with one decision.

Stop waiting to be chosen.
Choose yourself.

Comment below with one word that describes the version of you you’re stepping into next.

Let this be the moment you decide.

Heavenly Father

Thank You for the strength You’ve placed inside me —
even in seasons when I didn’t recognize it.
When I’ve been overwhelmed, remind me that You are a God of order, not chaos.
When I’ve been waiting to be chosen, remind me that You already chose me.
When I feel stretched between serving others and rebuilding myself,
give me wisdom to do both with grace.
Teach me resilience without bitterness.
Discipline without hardness.
Empathy without losing myself.
Boundaries without guilt.
Quiet strength without fear.
Help me release the need for approval and
step fully into the calling You’ve placed on my life.
Give me clarity in my decisions, peace in my process, and
courage to choose growth over comfort.
Today, I choose alignment.
I choose peace.
I choose responsibility.
I choose to walk confidently in who You created me to be.
Guide my work.
Guard my heart.
Bless the people I serve.
And when I forget my strength —
gently remind me that it comes from You.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

“This Is Me” – Keala Settle

This Is Me” is an anthem of unapologetic self-acceptance and bold identity. It’s about stepping out of hiding, releasing the need for approval, and owning who you are — scars, strength, and all. The song builds from vulnerability to powerful declaration, making it a perfect soundtrack for anyone choosing themselves after seasons of doubt, rejection, or rebuilding. It doesn’t ask for permission. It declares worth.
