Same Me Different Hair Days

same me different hair days

Some days my hair is flat, curly, messy, or hidden under a hat—but my heart, compassion, and authenticity always stay the same.

Some Days My Hair Has a Personality of Its Own

By Kim Donahue | Real Estate Expert Advisor, Your Realtor with a Heart to Serve.

There was a comment someone made while looking through my photos that honestly made me laugh out loud.

They said, “Your hair looks completely different in every photo.”

And the funny part?

They were absolutely right.

Some days my hair looks like I accidentally walked out of the 1980s with a perm.
Some days it’s flat-ironed so straight it sticks to my head like I barely have any hair at all.
Some days it’s a complete Florida humidity disaster.
Some days it’s shoved into a baseball cap because I didn’t feel like dealing with it.
And some days I attempt to curl it like my professional stylist does…

Which usually ends with me looking like I’m auditioning for an old rock band music video.

And honestly?

I’m okay with that.

Because the truth is… I don’t have a glam team following me around every day. I don’t wake up with perfect hair and makeup. Most days I’m running from calls, showings, contracts, clients, dogs, life, coffee, emotions, deadlines, and trying to simply show up as the best version of myself I can be.

On video shoot days? Sure. My stylist helps me. My makeup gets done professionally. The lighting is good.

But real life?

Real life is messy.

Real life is baseball hats.
Humidity.
Wrinkled yoga pants.
Mascara from yesterday.
Hair clips.
Dry shampoo.
Florida rainstorms.
And trying your best anyway.

And maybe that’s exactly the point.

Somewhere along the way, society convinced people that perfection equals value.

Perfect hair.
Perfect makeup.
Perfect body.
Perfect house.
Perfect image.

But the older I get, the more I realize something important:

People don’t remember perfection.

They remember how you made them feel.

They remember if you listened.
If you cared.
If you showed compassion.
If you showed up when things got hard.
If you treated them with kindness.
If you made them feel safe, understood, supported, or loved.

That matters so much more to me than whether my hair cooperated that day.

I’ve met some of the most beautiful people in the world who were absolutely exhausted from trying to maintain an image.

And I’ve met people who looked completely ordinary on the outside but carried the kind of heart that could change someone’s entire life.

That’s the kind of beauty I care about now.

The kind that comes from empathy.
From compassion.
From authenticity.
From letting people be exactly who they are without judgment.

I don’t criticize people for where they’re at in life.
I don’t expect perfection from others because I know how hard life can be.
I know people are carrying silent battles nobody sees.

And honestly?

I’d rather be known for my heart than for my hairstyle.

Because hair changes.
Looks change.
Bodies change.
Life changes.

But how you love people?

That leaves a lasting imprint.

So yes… some days my hair looks like an 80s perm gone wrong.

Some days I look polished.
Some days I don’t.

But every single day, I try to lead with kindness, empathy, compassion, and authenticity.

And to me…

That’s beautiful.

Thank You for reminding us that our worth is not found in perfection, appearance, or how the world sees us. Help us become comfortable being exactly who You created us to be. Teach us to lead with compassion, empathy, kindness, and authenticity instead of comparison or criticism.
Remind us that beauty is found in the way we love people, support others, and show up with grace through both the polished moments and the messy ones.
Help us release the pressure to be perfect and instead embrace the freedom of being real.
And may we always remember that the heart we carry matters far more than the hairstyle we wear.
Amen.

Christian Rock Song:
Truth Be Told by Matthew West

I chose Truth Be Told because the entire message of the song is about dropping the pressure to pretend you have everything together. Your article talks openly about messy hair days, not feeling polished, and being comfortable showing up as your real self instead of trying to maintain some perfect image.

Country / Pop Rock Song:
This Is Me by Keala Settle

I chose This Is Me because it carries this powerful emotional energy of:
“This is who I am, unapologetically.”
