When Life Rewrites Your Story

A heartfelt story about rebuilding, faith, and finding strength when life doesn’t go as planned. You’re not starting over—you’re rising stronger.

When Life Rewrites Your Story

There’s a version of you that everyone knows.

The one who shows up.
The one who checks in.
The one who answers every call, solves every problem, and somehow keeps everything moving forward.

And then… there’s the version of you that sits quietly for a moment and realizes…
“I need to check on me, too.”

This weekend was one of those moments for me.

It would have been two years since Dave and I got married.

And if I’m being honest, I didn’t quite know how I would feel when the day came. You don’t really prepare for dates like that—the ones that hold memories, emotions, and a version of life that once felt so certain.

Our wedding was beautiful.
Perfect, really.

We got married on the beach, with the sound of the waves behind us and the feeling that everything ahead of us was aligned exactly as it should be. That night, we celebrated with a Kentucky Derby party—hats, laughter, music, friends… a full day of love and life all wrapped into one.

And yesterday… I felt it.

A little sadness.
A quiet ache.
But also something I didn’t expect as strongly as I felt it…

Hope.

Because somewhere along this journey—through the changes, the heartbreak, the rebuilding—I realized something powerful:

I’m no longer in survival mode.

And that changes everything.

There was a time when every day felt like pushing through.
Doing what had to be done.
Showing up because I had no other choice.

But now?

Now I’m building again… from a place of awareness instead of reaction.
From strength instead of fear.
From faith instead of uncertainty.

And maybe you’re there right now.

Maybe you’re in the middle of something you didn’t plan.
Maybe life didn’t turn out the way you thought it would.
Maybe you’re rebuilding—again—and wondering why it feels like you’re starting over.

But here’s the truth I want you to hold onto:

You’re not starting over.
You’re starting from experience.

Every lesson you’ve lived…
Every moment that stretched you…
Every time you had to stand back up when it would have been easier to stay down…

That’s not loss.

That’s foundation.

This weekend, I gave myself something I don’t always give enough of…

Permission.

Permission to feel.
Permission to slow down.
Permission to reflect on where I’ve been—and where I’m going.

And in that space, something shifted.

I could see clearly how much I’ve built.
Not just in business…
Not just in relationships…

But in who I’ve become.

Stronger.
More grounded.
More aware of what truly matters.

And most importantly…

More connected to my faith.

Because when things don’t go according to our plan, it doesn’t mean things are falling apart.

Sometimes it means they’re being realigned.

God has a way of gently (and sometimes not so gently) guiding us back to the path that’s meant for us—even when we don’t understand it in the moment.

So if you’re reading this and you’re in the middle of your own rebuilding season…

I want you to know this:

You are not behind.
You are not broken.
You are becoming.

Becoming someone who has depth.
Becoming someone who can handle more.
Becoming someone who will look back one day and realize…

“This version of me… was built in the moments I thought I wouldn’t make it through.”

Take the time to pause.

Reflect on your life—not just what didn’t work, but what did.
Look at how far you’ve come, even if it doesn’t feel like enough yet.

Because it is.

And so are you.

And when you’re ready…

You don’t have to rush.

Just take the next step.

One step in faith.
One step in trust.
One step in believing that what’s ahead of you is still good.

Maybe even better than you imagined.

Because sometimes… the life we thought we wanted is just the beginning of the life we were meant to build.
