Gratitude Changed Everything in 30 Days

gratitude changed everything in 30 days

Discover how a simple 30-day gratitude practice shifted mindset, brought peace, and created clarity during life’s ups and downs.

When Gratitude Becomes Your Turning Point

There are moments in life that don’t arrive with fireworks or big announcements…
they just quietly shift something inside of you.

That’s where I found myself this morning.

Not in chaos. Not in overwhelm.
But in a sense of relief I didn’t even realize I had been craving.

And it all started with something so simple…
gratitude.

A Visit That Meant More Than Words

At the beginning of this month, my mom came to stay with me for three weeks.

I hadn’t seen her in two years.

We talk almost every day, but there’s something different about sitting across from someone you love—sharing meals, laughter, quiet moments, memories. Watching them just be.

And what struck me the most wasn’t just the time we spent together…
it was who she has become.

Over the last 15 years, she has completely turned her life around.

She lives simply. Minimal. No excess.
But she wakes up every single day with purpose.

She gives. She serves. She keeps going.

And she has impacted more lives than she probably even realizes.

Watching her reminded me of something powerful:

You don’t need everything to be perfect…
you just need to keep moving forward with intention.

The Truth About Struggles No One Talks About

If you looked at my life from the outside, you might see success, growth, movement.

But behind that?

There have been struggles.
Trials.
Moments where things didn’t go as planned.

Moments where I questioned everything.

And maybe you’ve felt that too.

That quiet pressure of:

“I should be further along.”
“Why does this feel so hard?”
“When is it going to come together?”

Here’s what I’ve learned…

Sometimes the breakthrough doesn’t come from doing more.

It comes from shifting how you see everything you already have.

The 30-Day Gratitude Challenge That Changed Me

I was challenged to write down what I was grateful for every single day for 30 days.

At first, I thought…

“I already feel grateful… isn’t that enough?”

But there’s a difference.

A big one.

Feeling gratitude is passive.
Expressing gratitude is active.

And when you start putting it into words—every day—you begin to notice things you’ve been overlooking.

The small wins.
The quiet blessings.
The moments that would’ve normally passed you by.

There were days I didn’t feel like doing it.

Days where it felt repetitive.

But I stayed consistent.

And somewhere along the way… something shifted.

Not overnight. Not dramatically.

But deeply.

I started waking up lighter.
Thinking clearer.
Letting go faster.

And today?

I woke up with a sense of peace I haven’t felt in a long time.

Not because everything is perfect.

But because I can finally see it differently.

What Brené Brown Taught Me About Courage

Brené Brown talks about courage in a way that hits differently.

She says that vulnerability is not weakness… it’s the birthplace of courage.

And when I think about this journey—the ups, the downs, the moments of uncertainty…

The courage wasn’t in having it all figured out.

It was in showing up anyway.

Writing anyway.
Trying again anyway.
Believing anyway.

Even when it felt uncomfortable.

Even when it didn’t make sense yet.

Gratitude, in its own way, is an act of courage.

Because it asks you to look at your life honestly—and still choose to see the good.

The 5-Second Decision That Changes Everything

Mel Robbins teaches something incredibly simple… and incredibly powerful.

The 5 Second Rule.

When you feel the urge to do something that’s good for you…
you count backwards: 5-4-3-2-1… and you move.

No overthinking. No hesitation.

There were mornings during this 30-day challenge where I didn’t feel like writing my gratitude list.

But I used it.

5-4-3-2-1… and I wrote anyway.

And those small decisions?

They compound.

They build momentum.

They create change.

The Let Them Theory That Set Me Free

One of the most freeing concepts I’ve embraced comes from Mel Robbins as well…

The Let Them Theory.

Let them doubt you.
Let them misunderstand you.
Let them have their opinions.

Because when you stop trying to control how others see you…

You finally get to focus on how you see your life.

And gratitude plays a huge role here.

When you’re grounded in appreciation, you’re less reactive.

Less triggered.

More at peace with what is—and what isn’t.

A Story About Perspective

I once worked with a client who felt completely stuck.

Nothing was going right.
Deals were falling apart.
Confidence was low.

We did something simple.

Every day, I had them write down 5 things they were grateful for—and 1 thing that went right that day.

At first, they struggled.

“It was a bad day… nothing went right.”

But we kept going.

A week later, they started noticing small wins.

A returned phone call.
A kind conversation.
A lead that might turn into something.

Three weeks later?

Their entire energy had shifted.

And guess what happened next…

Opportunities started showing up.

Not because the market suddenly changed.

But because they did.

The Real Shift

Gratitude doesn’t mean ignoring your challenges.

It means choosing not to let them define you.

It means recognizing that even in the middle of uncertainty…

There is still something working in your favor.

And when you start living from that place?

You move differently.

You speak differently.
You show up differently.
You attract differently.

If You’re Looking for Peace…

Start here.

Not with a massive life overhaul.
Not with another strategy.

Just this:

Write down 5 things you’re grateful for today.

Tomorrow, do it again.

And the next day.

Don’t overthink it.

Don’t try to make it perfect.

Just be consistent.

Because what seems small right now…

Might just be the thing that changes everything.

Thank You for the quiet moments that remind us of what truly matters.
Thank You for the blessings we often overlook and the strength You give us through every trial.
Help us to slow down and see our lives through a lens of gratitude…
Not because everything is perfect, but because You are present in every moment.
Give us the courage to keep showing up, even when things feel uncertain.
The wisdom to shift our perspective when we feel stuck.
And the peace that comes from trusting that everything is unfolding exactly as it should.
Let this message reach the person who needs it most today—

We trust You in the process, in the waiting, and in the becoming.
Amen.

Jake Owen – Made For You

This one carries that feeling of alignment—like things are finally falling into place the way they’re meant to. It’s softer, but it connects deeply to “I woke up with relief today” moment.
